Sedap Asian Street Kitchen has opened its creekside doors at Al Seef in Dubai
Taking diners on an authentic culinary tour of South East Asia, Sedap Asian Street Kitchen at Al Seef serves up authentic street flavours from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Presenting the sights, smells and flavours of those found on the bustling streets of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, Sedap Asian Street Kitchen is Al Seef’s newest licensed South East Asian eatery. With Asian authenticity at its core, Sedap is Singaporean owned and operated, and sees Malaysian chef Jaslin at the helm of the spice-filled kitchen – home of the famed black pepper and chilli crab. Nestled in the idyllic creekside destination of Al Seef by Meraas in Dubai, Sedap offers a chilled out, fun and vibrant atmosphere for visitors to sit back and relax while enjoying fuss-free, lip-smacking street food favourites that stay true to their origins, alongside a selection of refreshing cocktails or an ice-cold tower of beer – just as is done in South East Asia’s popular backpacking districts. With uninterrupted views over the waters of Dubai Creek, Sedap offers guests both indoor and outdoor seating for a laid-back dining experience. As the weather cools, live entertainment will ensure an upbeat ambiance on the sprawling rooftop terrace that overlooks Dubai’s captivating skyline. Inside, Sedap’s interiors blend the cultures of the Middle East and South East Asia with hand painted murals and pops of eye-catching colour around the dining room, bar and lounge. Sedap, meaning ‘tasty’ in Malay, promises a vibrant culinary experience, with highlight dishes from the kitchen including ultimate crowd-pleasers like succulent satays with crunchy peanut sauce and BBQ sambal seabass or squid from the grill, famed black pepper or chilli mud and flower crabs, noodles such as mi goreng or char kway teow, and mains like beef rendang, seafood laksa, prawn paste chicken wings, and stir fry tofu with Thai holy basil. The family-friendly restaurant also offers a dedicated kids’ menu including options like veg-packed stir fry noodles, and in-house made breaded chicken nuggets and fish fingers, served with a juice of choice. Speaking on the conceptualisation of Sedap, owner and operator Sameer Purain said: “Sedap is a true passion project for us and an ode to the place we call home – Singapore. Our vision for the restaurant was to create a relaxing and welcoming space suitable for the whole family to enjoy special moments over quality food. We hope to transport guests to South East Asia with our authentic cuisine, easy going atmosphere and approachable price point. We’re a ‘come as you are’ kind of place, created to make everyone feel at ease, and we look forward to warmly welcoming our future guests.” Sedap Asian Street Kitchen is located at Al Seef (opposite the British Embassy), Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is open daily from 4pm – 11pm on weekdays and 1pm – 11pm on weekends, with delivery available direct from Sedap via the link in bio on Instagram @sedapdxb.
